The role

What will I have to do?

  • Take part in a one day Young Inspector Training session
  • Carry out inspections during the school holidays to check services are doing what they should be doing. Example activities include:
    • Acting as a customer by asking for information in person, over the phone, or on the website to see how services respond.
    • Carrying out surveys with people who have used services to gain their views.
    • Watching services in action and checking that standards of service.
  • Check buildings and surroundings, looking at things like easy access, information and staff friendliness.
  • Attend meetings when you are available.
  • It is totally voluntary so you can choose what inspections you what to get involved in, how often and the type activities you want. You will not be asked to do anything you are uncomfortable with.

What support will you be given?

All Young Inspectors are provided with one day training in inspection techniques.

Ashlea Harvey the Young Inspector Co-ordinator acts as the link between services and the Young Inspectors and additional support and assistance is also offered on an individual basis.
